Seconds Pinwheel 20x20 Screen Print
Did you know the word kaleidoscope comes from the Greek and translates to beautiful form? This idea is what I based this print on, the main focus being a Pinwheel in the middle column.
This print was created as an edition of 25 for the 20:20 Print Exchange last year. To make sure I had 25 perfect prints I printed some extras, which is great as now I have some spare artist's proofs on offer for you today!
Each of the four layers was printed using an exposed silk screen and measures roughly 20cmx20cm. I designed it as three columns that are moving apart to break the form and used colours with different levels of transparency so you can see the build-up of the different colours overlapping each other.
I always loved playing with a kaleidoscope as a child and I wanted to create this print as a sort of deconstruction of one. I love playing around with different transparencies of ink to add more depth to the piece and picking a bright colour palette to make it pop.
